Spring has Sprung!

I hope all is well on your patch of terra firma. Spring is frequently an active weather time here in Tennessee, especially thunderstorms. Thunderstorms mean lightning, and lightning does not play well with computers or modems. Why do I mention this? Glad you asked. When “active” weather is forecast for our area, Neuron Radio will revert to it’s back-up format, otherwise known as Basic Mode. In order to protect our webcasting system, we switch to a playlist of tracks kept on a server at Live365, our streaming host. When we do this, VIP listeners continue to hear music commercial-free, but Free listeners will hear short Ads placed in the stream by Live365. Listeners will also notice a gap between songs, unlike the nice crossfade transitions normally heard when Neuron Radio streams Live. In Basic Mode, our Show Schedule and Request System at  http://neuronradio.net  will be inoperative until we are able to revert back to Live mode. This is just a heads-up for all of our listeners, so you won’t have to wonder “what’s up?”

Neuron Radio is quickly transitioning to predominantly House music, but we will always play Jazz, RnB, soulful Oldies, and other cool music as well because we love it. Be sure to check our schedule to find out when your favorite genres are being featured. We don’t want you to miss a minute of the music you love.

Drop us a line at aubadge@neuronradio.net or give us a shout (the Shoutout box is right here on the station page), let us know how we’re doing….and thank you for listening!

Just Checkin’ In

I hope everything is cool on your piece of terra firma. We’re still kickin’ it non-stop here at Neuron Radio, and just wanted to express sincere thanks for listening. Internet radio has been “goin’ through somethin’ for the past year or so, in the form of higher royalty rates, higher than satellite radio, and MUCH higher than AM/FM (which does not pay performance royalties). However, we’re not hatin’ on our terrestrial fellow broadcasters – we just want rates that compensate artists for their work and are fair to all who promote their music through airplay, not just a few.

Neuron Radio is still doin’ it around the clock (and calendar), and our automated request system is alive & kickin’, too! Be extra sure to tune in on Tuesdays and Thursdays - those are “Twofer” days, which means that you’ll hear 2 tracks by the same artist(s) back to back all day long! As if that weren’t enough (isn’t that cheesey-sounding? Does it feel like I’m about to sell you a knife that’ll cut through titanium?), all requests on Tuesdays and Thursdays are Twofers!

One last thing – Now is a good time to become a Live365 VIP Preferred Member. Due to the nagging royalty issue, Live365 has found it neccessary to increase fees to broadcasters. At the same time, the number of slots each station now has (depending on broadcast package purchased) fewer slots for Free listeners. What does this mean to you? Well, if you’re a Free listener, it means that you may have more trouble getting into your favorite stations. On the other hand, no station is ever full to VIP Members – VIP’s can always tune into any station in the Live365 network, full or not. If you do decide to sign up for a membership, please do so only through the green button on this page. That way, your favorite broadcaster (Me) will receive a portion of the fee to be applied to my cost of running the station.

That’s all for now – Holla at your girl. Peace.

Listener Forum

Webcasters care what listeners think…we really do. Live365 has forums where you can interact with your favorite webcasters. The forums are also a great way to find information about the various stations and what they’re up to. Who knows? You might even make a friend. We don’t bite…really :)

You can access the Live365 Listener forums here: http://forums.live365.com/index.php

Hope to see you soon!

Now Taking Requests

That’s right! Neuron Radio is happy to take your requests, but must follow certain rules in doing so. First, I must wait at least 1 hour from the time a request is submitted before playing it. Second, I’m not allowed to play more than 2 songs by the same artist in a 3 hour period. I have my broadcasting program (SAM4) configured to follow these rules and one of my own: Neuron Radio doesn’t play the same song twice in 1 day. When you make a request, a box will pop up informing you whether or not your request was accepted. If it was, and you’re tuned in at the right time, you should hear your song in about an hour. If your request is not accepted, you’ll probably see a message that the song has already been played. If that happens, just choose another of your favorites from the playlist. With over 4,000 songs (and growing), I can almost guarantee that you’ll find another choice.  Here’s the link you need to make requests: www.neuronradio.net

Monday

Last night, some long overdue T-Boomers rolled through Middle TN…and boy, were they violent! Lots of lightning and heavy rain. Since computers, modems, and lightning don’t play well together, I switched my stream to Basic mode, shut everything down, and unplugged it all. About 10 minutes later, our power went out, and stayed out for hours. Only a thunderstorm, power outtage, computer failure, or weekly maintenance will keep Neuron Radio from streaming LIVE.
